Yoga Therapy
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga offers centuries old techniques, applied to today’s needs, to support you on your journey back to health, wellness and balance. Some of the many tools of yoga include
physical movement and postures (āsana)
breathing practices (prāṇāyāma)
imagery and meditation (bhāvana)
Yoga Therapy does not diagnose physical or mental health conditions, but can work as a stand alone therapeutic process, or in partnership with care plans established by your healthcare providers.
Whether or not you come to Yoga Therapy with a medical diagnosis, our work is primarily concerned with how you are functioning, what you are feeling and experiencing. While a specific diagnosis might serve as a guide, it is the science of Yoga that directly informs the plan and practices created for you to foster well being, balance and healing.
What conditions are addressed?
There are innumerable conditions that can improve with the support of yoga therapy. Celia has direct experience using yoga therapy for:
• Back and neck pain
• Arthritis / other joint pain
• Chronic pain
• Mental health and wellness
• Anxiety and depression
• Trauma
• Trouble with sleep
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Traumatic Brain Injury
• Peripheral neuropathy
• Headache and migraine
• Poor digestive function
• Long COVID symptoms
• Symptoms of menopause
• Autoimmune disease
• Diabetes
It’s a process.
Yoga therapy is a process over time, and is most effective when there is commitment. I commit to support and guide you through deeply listening, and creating unique practices for your needs and goals. Your commitment is to have faith in the process, trust that your system is capable of incredible things, and to maintain daily practice to effect lasting change within yourself.
If you’d like to schedule a free 15 minute call to further discuss how yoga therapy can benefit you, I’d love to talk.

What to expect
INITIAL MEETING — In our initial meeting, about an hour and a half, we will discuss your needs and goals, as I get to know you.
Part of this process entails going over your relevant medical history and assessing how your system is currently functioning, including things like pain, stress levels, sleep and digestion.
We will spend the rest of our time together experimenting with movement and breathing techniques designed to support you, all the while taking care to find what is the most comfortable and effective.
CREATING A CUSTOMIZED PRACTICE — This results in the creation of a practice that is completely customized to fit you — a practice that is the right length, that fits into your day, and is designed to help you on your path towards balance and healing.
FOLLOW UP SESSIONS — One hour follow up sessions are a time to check in, see how it's going, and make adjustments to your practice as your needs evolve. You gradually shift and change as a result of your efforts and commitment to practice, and the elements of your practice change in continued support of you.
