Crafting the Integrated Practice: Sequencing to bring Āsana, Prāṇāyāma and Meditation Together as a Whole

  • The Yoga Center Retreat 4212 Park Glen Road St. Louis Park, MN, 55416 United States (map)

Yoga is an integrated experience that involves body, breath, mind and emotions. Yoga has tools that work with each of these respectively: āsana for the body, prāxnāyāma for breath, and meditation and chanting for the mind and emotions. Just as these facets of ourselves are inextricably linked within us, we can craft individual yoga practices that join āsana, prāṇāyāma, meditation and mantra into one continuous thread, each leading to the next in the service of unified goal. Some of these goals could be creating a specific energetic or functional outcome, or cultivating particular feelings within such as peace, strength or joy.

In this training, we will learn how the tools of yoga fit together, and how we can sequence in order to create the most impactful practices. You can expect to come away with specific sequence ideas, as well as a framework to continue to explore and make connections and create sequences on your own.

Following the teachings and lineage of Mr. TKV Desikichar, this training will be taught through the lens of Viniyoga. Though we will be learning through this particular lineage, the concepts we are working with apply across all forms of yoga and can be adapted accordingly.
